Q: When will the course start?
A: The course will start in the autumn/winter of 2018.
Q: How is the course being taught?
A: The course includes classroom lectures, a slack channel for online communication and mentoring and online exercises that students will complete in their own time.
Q: When will sessions take place?
A: Being conscious that most of our students have working commitments, lectures take place during the evenings. Module 1 will require the most in-person attendance, while Modules 2 and 3 involve remote work and mentoring.
A: For the first module, there will be 8 lectures, spread over 1-2 months. For the second module it will be 4 lectures, whereas for the last module support will be mostly remote.
Q: How many lectures and commitment are we looking overall?
Q: Is there any flexibility regarding the structure or the timing of the lectures?
A: Yes. Depending on the demand we get from students, we might add more times or lectures.
Q: Do I need to buy any resources?
A: All reading materials are free and available online. You'll need to buy a subscription to Datacamp to support private study and implementation of theory discussed in lectures, but this will be covered in the first lecture.
Q: How much time do I have to dedicate to private study?
A: Outside of lectures (2 per week for Module 1, 1 per week for Module 2 and one in-person session for Module 3, we estimate private study time to be between 20 and 30 hours per week.
Q: What datasets will we be using?
A: We've been building partnerships with local authorities and organisations, and will be providing access to these around a set of challenges.
Q: How can I find out more information?
A: Get in touch and speak to the team!
